Lily B. /Lily S. /Amilia T. Project:
Our group recognized the struggles that many families were facing during COVID-19. We decided to act on this, specifically focusing on providing resources for low-income families or children who were home alone during the pandemic. To make an effort to solve this problem in our community, we created a recipes book that contained recipes that used more affordable ingredients. We also provided information about local food banks in our community.
Annika S's project:
Silver award - Virtual Middle School Shadow Day
Due to the pandemic AEA elementary students were not able to participate in the MS shadow day like they did in the past. They needed another option to be able to learn what the MS would be like which would help them with the transition. Annika created a video including a school tour, introduced each of the 6th grade teachers and and had an interview with the school principal. The video was distributed to all the incoming 6th graders from the elementary school. They loved the video and parents and students were so thankful to have a student view of what to expect when they go there. It made them feel comfortable even in the uncertainty of the pandemic.
